Please note that some of these clips are from episodes where Amy wasn’t guest starring, per se, as they only contained posters and/or picture frame shots of Amy; however, these are clearly marked. ‘Drive’ Screencaps (Part 1)

You may have noticed the frequent updates of late; I’m aiming to update at least once a week, until all of the missing screencaps have been added to the gallery.

In this update, I’ve added MQ screencaptures from Drive – although Amy isn’t credited in episode 1×01, I’ve added the caps (photo frame; posters) anyway – I shall be going through the other episodes to see if Amy has popped up in those, as well as the credited ones. ‘Drive’ makes primetime Emmy history

Not Amy related but if Drive wins an Emmy, perhaps the episodes will be released on DVD. Just pure speculation on my part.

Fox’s quickly canceled drama “Drive” has inadvertently made TV academy history on Thursday, becoming the first-ever Primetime Emmy broadband nominee.

Twenty years from now, when Emmy only recognizes programming found on the Internet, historians will point to the mostly forgotten “Drive” as the show that started it all.

Only 50 seconds of the three-minute “Drive” clip nommed Thursday actually aired on TV. Instead, the special effect, titled “The Starting Line,” was streamed on Fox.com — and only ever seen on Fox.com.

The clip – which took a year and a half for special effects shop Zoic Studio to produce – opened up “Drive” by introducing characters as a camera slid from car to car racing down a busy freeway. “The Starting Line” scored a nomination under new rules enacted this year by the org.

In the case of “Drive,” visual effects producer Raoul Bolognini contacted the TV academy’s special effects peer group about finding a way to make his effect eligible, even though the show was canceled before six episodes aired, and ineligible for an Emmy as a result.

“We had originally submitted for the category of best outstanding visual effects in a drama series – but the show was canceled,” Bolognini said. “We felt so passionately about the work we created that we wrote a letter to the Academy to see if there was any other category we could be considered for. They looked into everything for us. Outside of that, I explained the situation to Fox to see if they’d support us getting into a different category.”

The loophole: Bolognini (with the approval of the awards committee) persuaded Fox.com to stream the three-minute scene on the web. That allowed “The Starting Line” to be eligible as a special, and compete in the special visual effects category for miniseries, movies and specials – as a Fox.com show.

That’s how “Drive” is now going up against HBO’s “Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,” TNT’s “Nightmares & Dreamscapes,” ABC’s “The Path to 9/11″ and Discovery Channel’s “Secrets of the Deep” in that category.

According to TV academy awards senior VP John Leverence, the Fox.com run of “Drive” reps the first series to find its way to the Emmy nomination process via the new broadband eligibility.

“I’ve got a happy crew on my side at the moment,” Bolognini said. “They felt like a year and a half of their work was going to go to waste.”

Meanwhile, expect more online fare to make the grade when the Acad announces its annual Primetime Emmy interactive category (a juried award) in the next few weeks.

Drive; Final Episodes

I’m unsure if Amy will be guest-starring in these episodes but for those of you that have been following the show, the official website states that the final two episodes will be aired back-to-back on July 13th, 8/7c.

EDIT: According to The Futon Critic, Amy only guest-starred in the following episodes: 1×02 – Partners and 1×04 – No Turning Back; both of which you can view at FOX On Demand although, unfortunately, it isn’t available to people outside of the States.

Drive; Final Episodes Update

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, but for those of you that have been following the now cancelled series, Drive, FOX has decided not to air the final episodes after all. This has been confirmed by Futon Critic (opens in a new window) which states that season 1 consists of 6 episodes, 2 of which never aired.

I shall try to get hold of the episodes Amy did star in (1×02 and 1×04) so I can add screencaps to the gallery.

Canceled: Drive

If you follow the ratings, surely you’ve noticed that despite Fox’s huge promotional push for Drive, people just weren’t tuning in to the fast-paced drama. While it was up against ABC’s powerhouse Dancing with the Stars, the series didn’t pull in the same ratings as its previous occupant Prison Break. The cancellation is effective immediately and there is no word as to whether Fox plans to air the remaining episodes on the tube or the internet in the near future.

‘Drive’ Lands Fox In Third Place, ABC Grabs Sunday

SHOULD EVERY FOX SHOW BE given an “American Idol” launching pad?

A case could be made for Fox’s race-themed ensemble drama “Drive,” which didn’t have “Idol” to offer it a jump-start. That said, Fox wanted to give the show a two-hour premiere, so there were fewer slots put in the show.

Fox’s “Drive” could only manage an idling 2.6 rating/7 share among 18-49 viewers on Sunday night, according to preliminary Nielsen results. Such numbers landed the network in third place for the night. The show wasn’t helped by a repeat hour of “The Simpsons” that ran before it, earning a 2.1/7.
