Joss Whedon to Direct ‘The Avengers’

A little fun piece; the news broke several days ago that Joss Whedon has been hired by Marvel to direct and rewrite a script for The Avengers, and naturally, several people (including Scott Rosenberg; his tweet is posted below) have been placing bets on the cast — with an emphasis on the Whedonverse actors — including Amy Acker (or Summer Glau) for the role of The Wasp.

Joss Whedon directing “THE AVENGERS”. Great news. But which Avenger will Amy Acker be playing? She must be an Avenger, Joss!

Obviously, if developments arise I’ll be following this project more closely, but for now, I thought it’d be fun to mention!

‘My TV Awards’ Nomination

A small piece of news — Amy has been nominated for ‘Best Female Guest Star’ for her work on Dollhouse in the ‘My TV Awards’ and is up against Sharon Lawrence (Grey’s Anatomy), Kristen Bell (Party Down), Christine Baranski (Big Bang Theory), Lucy Hale (Private Practice) and Joanne Vannicola (Being Erica).

Amy has responded to the nomination, which is posted below. :)

Thank you so much for nominating me for Dollhouse!!! That is really cool. I can’t really take too much credit, whenever Joss is running a show there is such amazing material. He has such awesome writers on the show, they kinda do all the work for you. I feel so lucky I have gotten to be in two of his shows, I think I need to start bribing him now to cast me in the next one!! Thank you guys for thinking of me, and including me with all of those other fantastic actresses. Thank you so much!

Q&A: James Carpinello

I came across a fairly recent Q&A with Amy’s husband, James Carpinello — who, as you may know, is currently starring in the Broadway play, Rock of Ages — and towards the end, the questions touch on Amy and how they met; a few extracts are posted below. It’s a lovely read and I highly recommend reading the Q&A in full. :)

You’ve mentioned your wife [actress Amy Acker] several times now. How did you meet?
Through mutual friends who were waiting tables together and thought we should get together. I went to a party at her house with a group of people, and the rest is history.

What was it about her?
Well, here’s a picture [he shows off a snapshot of his gorgeous wife], sooo that was the first impression. But I had also been in some relationship doozies before her. A best friend of mine said to me, “You can’t marry the crazies.” And there was something about her—she comes from Dallas and is so sweet and level and genuine and centered—that was everything I hoped that girl would be for me. You know how you have an idea in your head of what you hope it will be like when you’re in love, but you never seem to quite find that girl? Well I met her. And then I almost screwed it up!

How?
Oh, you know—as soon as I met her, someone I had been with before called out of the blue and almost screwed it up. But luckily [Amy] stuck with me, and I’m thankful for it everyday. We’ve been married six years.

New Layout!

I’m sure most of you noticed that the site has been in ‘maintenance mode’ for several days, but I was busy working behind the scenes — the content has been completely updated and expanded upon i.e. most, if not all, of the pages you come across, so there’s plenty to see! Although I did get a little impatient, so I’ve launched the new layout before the filmographpy section has been completed, but rest assured that shall be completely finished by next week.

I have to give huge thanks to Mycah for designing the layout once again, and I’m completely in love with it; perfect for the upcoming ‘season’ of news & images, don’t you think? ;)

And finally, a small piece of trivia:

Today, April 25, is also Amy & James’s wedding anniversary — they have now been married for 5 years — congrats! And I’m sure you’ll agree with me in sending our best wishes for a lovely day.
