The good news is that Common Law is nearing a series order at USA Network, but the bad news is that Amy’s role will be recast.
Full article is below.
UPDATE: Medium executive producer Craig Sweeny has come onboard Common Law as executive producer. He will serve as co-showrunner on the series alongside co-creators/exec producers Cormac & Marianne Wibberley through his overall deal at CBS TV Studios.
EXCLUSIVE 5 PM: I hear USA Network is finalizing a series pickup of comedic buddy cop drama Common Law starring Michael Ealy. The project, from CBS TV Studios and Jon Turteltaub’s Junction Entertainment, centers on polar-opposite LAPD homicide detectives Travis Marks (Ealy) and Wes Mitchell (Warren Kole), whose nonstop bickering and acrimony prompts their no-nonsense captain Phil Sutton (Jack McGee) to send them to a couples therapist. The role of the therapist, played in the pilot by Amy Acker, will be recast, along with another, smaller part. There will be some reshoots, and I hear the action quotient on the show will be pumped up. With the series order for Common Law, expected by the end of the week, USA will maintain its perfect pilot-to-series batting average. Common Law was one of three cast-contingent pilots ordered by USA last summer, along with Necessary Roughness and Suits (formerly A Legal Mind). The other two have already been picked up to series. Of the three pilots from USA’s second batch, Eden has been completed, while Over/Under and Wild Card are still casting. Common Law was written by Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, who are executive producing with Turteltaub.

Cabin in the Woods

Exciting news! It looks like Cabin in the Woods will, definitely, finally, be released. Details are below.
Lionsgate is making a deal with MGM to distribute The Cabin in the Woods, putting an end to an unexpectedly long shelf life for a horror film that has a terrific creative pedigree and a high degree of fanboy wanna-see. Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard directed the film and co-wrote it with Joss Whedon. The film’s cast includes Chris Hemsworth, who made it before he was set to star as the title character in Marvel’s Thor. Ironically, Whedon and Hemsworth are reuniting, with Whedon directing The Avengers, and Hemsworth reprising his hammer-swinging role. It’s unclear when Lionsgate will release the film, but October is a good bet.
The delay has little to do with the quality of the film. It was once slated to be released by MGM on Oct. 23, 2009, but was pulled back because it was going to be converted to 3D. Then, everything froze at MGM because of the strangling debt load, and The Cabin in the Woods was among several pictures that languished. By the time the picture is released, Thor will have established Hemsworth’s star value, which will certainly help a film that also stars Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford.

Amy posted on her official Twitter a few days ago to let us know that she is currently filming a new movie in Calgary, Canada, for a few weeks titled Dear Santa — a Christmas comedy — and as a result, sadly isn’t able to attend the ‘Echo 2′ convention in the UK this week.
Amy also stated that she’s still waiting to hear if her new series, Common Law, has been picked up.
Exciting news! Looks like we may have some new material coming our way soon.
EDIT: (April 28) According to IMDB, Amy’s character is called Crystal & the movie has an expected USA release date of December 1, 2011.

Just a friendly reminder about the upcoming Starfury convention titled ‘Echo-2′ for fans of Dollhouse which is taking place on April 1-3 in Heathrow, England, where Amy is still scheduled to attend — along with Olivia Williams, Fran Kranz, Liza Lapira and Dichen Lachman — such an exciting line-up, it’s a shame I won’t be able to make it!
Further details can be found on the Starfury website. If anyone would like to send in pictures featuring Amy at this convention, it would be greatly appreciated; you would, of course, be credited. Thanks!
