Just a quick post to let you know that Stef & I have finally opened up our fan site dedicated to the handsome and hardworking Buffy alum, Marc Blucas. We still have a lot of content to add, but we hope you’ll enjoy the site nevertheless. :)

The official release date for The Cabin in the Woods has finally been announced: April 13, 2012 (and yes, it’s a Friday.) It’s nearly another year of waiting, but we’re bound to have some terrific promotion in the meantime. :) We also finally have a synopsis of sorts; posted below with the article.

Aside from Whedon producing and co-writing with frequent collaborator and Cloverfield and Buffy writer Drew Goddard (who’s also directing), Cabin stars Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth as a young professional who, with a group of friends, visits a rustic cabin in the woods (makes sense) “and ends up scratching the surface of something so massive and horrific that they can only begin to fathom it as time quickly runs out.” My guess is that it’s a busted septic line.

The film also stars Richard Jenkins (Let Me In), Bradley Whitford (The West Wing), Kristen Connolly (The Happening), Brian J. White (Stomp the Yard), Amy Acker (Angel), Fran Kranz (Donnie Darko), and Jesse Williams (Brooklyn’s Finest). Not much else has been said about the film, but with such names behind it, we can expect some genre-bending badassery (septic tank or not). Whedon himself has described it as, “The horror movie to end all horror movies,” though he may be slightly biased.

We have a little more information on Amy’s Christmas movie, titled Dear Santa, thanks to a recent interview with Jason Priestley where he confirmed that he directed the movie; extract posted below. And according to IMDB, the release date is still scheduled for December 1, 2011.

Priestley also begins production on Season 3 of his series “Call Me Fitz,” shown on DirecTV in the U.S., in September; he’s filmed a guest role for the upcoming season of USA’s “Psych”; and he’s putting finishing touches on “Dear Santa,” a romantic-comedy movie with Amy Acker (“Angel”) that he has directed for the holidays.

The first ever still from The Cabin in the Woods was released yesterday — it doesn’t feature Amy so I haven’t added it to the gallery — but feel free to check it out over at MovieWeb.

I shall definitely keep you guys up-to-date on this movie as more stills etc, should slowly trickle out, and hopefully a few will feature Amy, too. :)

EDIT: Poster removed as it’s apparently fan-made.

Amy Acker says Angel fans are a special sort of breed.

Acker played Fred in Joss Whedon’s Buffy spin-off for four seasons and says the fans she encounters from that television series are different than ones on other shows she’s worked on such as Alias.

“I don’t feel I ever meet fans of Alias that are ever the same as the fans from Angel,” she says.

“The Angel fans are so connected to the show and they know so much about the show.”

She credits Whedon’s writing as one of the reasons the fans become so invested in the show.

“Joss has always made shows where there’s all these different types of people and you can always find yourself in at least one of the characters,” Acker says.

The actress has been in a number of Whedon’s productions including the short lived Dollhouse, in which she played Dr Claire Saunders and she counts the director as one of her closest friends.

Acker says as a director he is able to get the exact performance he wants from his actors.

“Watching him work with the actors and the crew it’s pretty amazing to see the way he communicates ideas and I think it’s pretty remarkable how he changes performance from one take to the next,” she says.

The Sunday Morning Herald has an article about this year’s Supernova – Pop Culture Expo convention in Sydney, Australia — which mostly features an interview with Amy’s Angel co-star, James Marsters — and has revealed that Amy is also attending the convention; extract posted below. :)

Tom Felton, from the Harry Potter movie series, will be there, while Marsters’s stablemate from the Buffy spin-off show Angel, Amy Acker, is coming down, as is conference newcomer Julie White, who plays Judy Witwicky in the Transformers movie series.

The official website further confirms this and also mentions that Amy will be attending both the Perth & Sydney events!

Amy looks forward to meeting all her fans at both the Sydney and Perth events in 2011. There are signing and photo sessions throughout each Saturday (10.30am to 5.30pm) and Sunday (11am to 5pm) excluding breaks. Amy is conducting a general admission Q&A each Saturday and an exclusive Whedonverse Q&A each Sunday (Whedonverse & VIP Passes only).
